Abstract

A false-positive alkaloid identified as vomifoliol was isolated for the first time from the chloroform extract of the leaves of c. f. Pandanus nobilis x Pandanus vidalii. Vomifoliol contains the essential structure, α,β-unsaturated ketone (α-pyrone) needed to precipitate with the alkaloid-detecting agent.
