The oxidatton-reduction equilibrium properties of several reagents immobilized in different types of immobilizing agent were investigated. Oxidation-reduction indicators containing diphenylamine group were immobilized on a cation-exchange resin (Amber lite IRC 50) and on a non-polar resin (Amberlite XAD-2). The equilibrium concentrations of the oxidized and reduced forms at different potentials were measured through a fiber optic reflectometric technique. The potential of the medium was controlled through potentiopoised solutions within the range of 590 to 850 mV It was observed that at pH 0 the standard potential of the indicator immobilized on the two polymeric substrates was lower than that of the indicator in aqueous solutions. The results indicated that the nature of the immobilizing agent does not affect the reduction potential of the indicator.Downloads
